The Brewers started the 2002 season winning just 3 games of their first 15, before seeing manager Jerry Royster fired. The high and low point of the season came when Major League Baseball held their annual All Star Game at Miller Park. That game would end in a 7-7 tie at the end of 11 innings after both sides used up all there pitchers. The calling of the game by commissioner and Brewers owner Bud Selig would be a dark spot on the rest of the baseball season.
After losing 106 games in the 2002 season, the Brewers hoped to do better during the 2003 season. Fans of the Brewers would not see there team perform a whole lot better as they went 68-94, and lost Richie Sexson, there best player, to the Arizona Diamondbacks at seasons end. The one shining player was Scott Podsednik who finished second in Rookie of the Year voting.
The 2004 season saw lots of highs for individual players on the team, but the team as a whole continued to falter. Chad Moeller hit for the cycle on April 27, Ben Sheets struck out 18 batters on May 16 and accumulated 264 for the season, Scott Podsednik stole 70 bases, Lyle Overbay hit 53 doubles, and Dan Kolb saves 39 games. The team’s record would nearly mirror the season prior, as the Brewers went 67-94.
